experimenting with materiality
Since we begin this project, that we have been experimenting with the materiality of Proyecto Ensamble, and like a good experimentation, we have had good and bad results.
We always get stacked with the good old “BUT”, for example that the manufacture has a very high cost, not to mention of sending to manufacture this in china, by a “almost slave child” or some other horrifying thing.
Thinking of charging the “Chilean manufacturing” costs to the future and mysterious “buyers”, left us with a negative profit margin.
On the other hand, effectively competing against products manufactured by a bad paid Nepalese, with cost per unit of -$100, is really stupid.
There are other “buts” even more obscene that we are not gonna mention this time.
Anyway, we engage in materializing new proposals because this little things really means nothing to us, and one of the options we shuffle was textile, so we decided to transform the piece of Proyecto Ensamble in a really cute constructive cushion. In this version we keep the ensemble concept in a human scale figure (of a human of more or less 4 years old), established in a materiality (Non woven fabric) that gives flexibility for been used as a constructive toy or a best friend.
