Evaluating the potential of this figure as a constructive building block and as a canvas, we propose several ways of working with it. initiating this experimental phase with the idea that originate the whole project, that was its application in paper.
How we apply this in paper
For this we have developed the paper toy that is the creation of the extended template immerse in the figure proportions. For a proper wedge, we’ve made a study of the figure developing measures that have relation with the thickness of the paper. The folded model in paper, takes us from a bi state to a tridimensional state. And we use it:
Annual Publication “the series of Proyecto Ensamble”
The capabilities of the initiative to group communities (artists, brands, entities, etc) and the great quantity of gathered material, was the thing that finally make the project adopt the characteristics of a periodic publication (magazine), but in a 3d style. with an annual publication consisting in 3¼ inch high figures, we can talk of a “toyzine” that we’ve published independently since 2009.
In workshops
Many workshops in different universities and institutes as; instituto Arcos, UDLA, U. de Chile, Duoc UC, Uniacc, between others in the degree of Graphic Design and Advertising were we take advantage of the interest of students in the custom figures for training their tri dimensional geometric vision. This effort can trigger future work in the areas of packaging and P.O.P or industrial design.
How we apply in fabric
We developed the Ensamble cushion for experimenting with the figure at a bigger scale and at the same time, to give the building block a constructive property oriented to kids. In this application we keep the concept of ensemble in a human scale figure(of a human 3 to 4 years old) built with a material that gives flexibility for been used as a constructive toy or as a “Best Friend”
